Interesting issue and a dilemma emerging - how should an artist position themselves if a controversial sponsor comes along eg. A power station. At what point, if any does art become propaganda?
At one of the first conversations of the night with James a curator here at Mima who is laying out the issues of funding and the need to be more entrepreneurial. Will that help justify the position of artists and galleries?
Could Mima hold the equivalent of the RA summer exhibition? An open space for local artists to exhibit? An idea from the floor being directed to the curator here
